Out with the Old, In with the New
How to seamlessly transition from
your old branding,to new branding.
One of the number of questions we get from our clients is how to phase out their old logo and introduce a new brand identity. Rebranding may seem intimidating. You may ask, “will people recognize my new logo?” or “how do I transition out materials with the old logo?” Coast to Coast Studio is here to fill you in on the best tips to get prepped for a (more than) successful rebrand!
No. 1: Save the Date
When you think it may be time for a rebrand, mark your calendar. It doesn’t have to be a specific date quite yet, but pick the month that your launch will occur. Not only will you be mentally prepared to switch over to your new branding, but you’ll have time to hype up the big change! This will give you a set timeframe to sell out of old materials, decide what you want out of a rebrand, and make a list of changes you’d love to see.
Ready for the next step?
No. 2: Make a Checklist
Now that you’ve decided to rebrand and you’ve marked a date, it’s time to start making a checklist of changes, updates, goals, you name it. This is a great time to:
Do research on your competition
What’s working for them? What’s not?
Phase out materials that aren’t working
Do you really need to update your letterhead or are you more of an emailer?
Figure out what materials you can’t live without
Did you love your competitors handout at the last tradeshow? Time to create an even better one!
Are you constantly handing out business cards? They say first impression is everything - better make sure they’re looking fresh!
This checklist will not only get you more organized than ever, it’ll help you discover your perfect demographic. Which brings us to our next tip.
No. 3: Discover Your Dream Client
Once your checklist is made, you’ll have a pretty good idea of the group of people you’re trying to appeal to. When rebranding, it’s crucial to know the little details about the audience you’re looking to attract!
Where do they shop?
What kind of music do they listen to?
How would you describe their personal style?
You get the gist. From colors to typography, your new logo should stop your dream client in their tracks and welcome them in for a margarita. That’s where we come in.
No. 4: Contact Your Favorite Design Studio
At Coast to Coast Studio, we always have our clients fill out a design brief. We want to hear about your brand’s style, what sets it apart from the competition, and the history behind your brand. However, we especially want to hear about your goals, dreams, life plans (favorite recipes, what book you’re currently reading, where you got your shoes…) – you get the picture.
Are you not bringing in the income you should be? Do your dream clients know you exist? Are your company brochures getting lost in the abyss of tradeshow handouts? Coast to Coast Studio is here to the rescue. We’ll make sure you have all updated materials from business cards to a new website. Also don’t worry, we’ll walk you through every step of the rebrand process to make sure it’s not only successful, but a great time as well.
No. 5: Have a Marketing Campaign in your Back Pocket
Congrats! You officially have your dream branding underway and you can’t sleep because you’re ready for it to be Launch Day. While the design studio you choose is wrapping everything up and making edits, start brainstorming a promotion.
We always recommend doing a post (or five) on all your social media channels, that clearly shows off the new logo, website, or updated materials. However, let’s go a little deeper. Have a new t-shirt design with the new logo? Have a giveaway on Instagram! Have new business cards you’re dying to hand out? Host a little cocktail party and invite your dream clients!
The opportunities are endless. Everybody loves a good rebrand, so make sure you promote it like crazy to get people excited!
See, we told you. A rebrand isn’t scary at all! In fact, it’s a creative party! Coast to Coast Studio is here to help you along the way, to ensure your business/brand is ready for success. Think you’re ready for it? Fill out our design brief here.
Let’s do this!
